Is Mr. Rochester manipulative or just a lot of fun?

  1. Mr. Rochester is both maniplulative and just a lot of fun. Hes maniplulative in the fact that he uses their feelings to his own advantage. For example the gispy situation jow he makes blanche become in this deep depression. How he would be a lot of fun is how he likes to throw a lot of parties, he likes to joke around and just be a chill guy.

  2. Mr. Roshester's masquerade as a gypsy, is a somewhat perplexing occurence. On one hand it is funny how he conjured the idea to pretend to be a gypsy and humor his guest, when they wanted to go see the gypsies he puts on a show to "tease" them in a way. Although it seems like fun and games, there seems to be another side to Mr.Rochester, he appears to have a motive behind his madness, especially when he tells Blanche her fortune and she goes back to the party and stews about the news she recieved, if his intentions were to hurt Blanche , although she is not my favorite character I believe that it would have been wrong for Mr. Rochester to treat her that way, and the same goes for Jane's fortune-telling, where Mr. Rochester pries at Jane for information on her deep emotions, that he doesn't know, but as a gypsy he should know- if he was a gypsy. I feel that Mr. Rochester is both fun-loving and manipulative, I believe it is his nature and to be any other way would be someone other than Mr. Rochester.

  3. I believe that Rochester is extremely manipulative, especially when it comes to Jane. Morally, I think that it was wrong, Rochester pretending to be a gypsy, because it changed Jane's outlook on the way she does things and her outlook on Rochester. I think that his goal in manipulating her was to make her jealous of him and Ingram, but it doesn't trully work because Jane feels that Miss Ingram cannot possibly satisfy Rochester and only likes him for materialistic things and possessions. Even though what he did as a gypsy was wrong, there are parts of him that come out to be fun and happy. He cares for many people, the way Jane does too.
